In today’s broadcast, I mentioned that the word for ‘sentence’ in 2 Cor. 1:9 was ‘answer‘ in the Greek. Here are the references regarding that from Vine’s Online Dictionary:
is translated “sentence” in 2 Cor. 1:9, AV (RV, “answer”). See ANSWER, No. 2.
akin to No. 1, denotes a judicial “sentence,” 2 Cor. 1:9, AV, and RV, margin, or an “answer” (RV, text), an answer of God to the Apostle’s appeal, giving him strong confidence.
