This is an actual crystal and bronze sculpture which is available for ordering online. Posters are also available of it in different sizes.
The Scripture caption that goes with it is 2 Corinthians 5:17: “If any man be in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed away, all things have become new, and all things are of God.”
Depending on their understanding of the new creation, people interpret this image in different ways.
The traditional interpretation is that of the struggle of the spirit with the flesh, illustrated by Romans 7.
With the revelations from God’s Word that I have come to understand concerning being a new creation in Christ, I see in this image the ‘putting on of the new man, who has been created in righteousness and true holiness’. The New Creation, triumphant over and putting off the flesh.
The Scripture declares: “walk after (or in) the spirit and you WON’T fulfill the lusts of the flesh”. The struggle with the sinful nature that motivated the ‘flesh’ is over. The sinful nature was done away in the new creation and the flesh can no longer control you.
Now, do this for the rest of your life: learn about the New You and submit to the Holy Spirit’s help in putting him ‘on’ in your life.
The New Life School of Pneumatology is about ‘putting on the new man’!
