Back in April of 2012, I did a posting entitled: “Caught in the Tension”. I was referring to the tension that exists between the past, the present and the future.
Well, today I am thinking of another ‘tension’ that I get caught in: the spiritual and the natural.
Being a spirit, possessing a soul and living in a body, I live in both realms. Dual realms.
I am still in the world though I am not OF it.
I have a peculiar subject to talk about in this posting, completely earthbound, yet spiritual and prophetic.
There was a word I heard on a news broadcast back in 2002 that I had never heard before nor ever thought I would hear: behead.
This was the report of the beheading of Daniel Pearle. It is hard to believe that this happened 11 years ago.
Since that time, I have been hearing this word more and more. It has become a weekly occurrence. Through twitter and other internet news outlets, it has become a word that I hear practically daily.
How does a new creation live in such a world?
It is undeniable, however, that early Christians lived in such a world. They were burnt alive, cast to lions, saw the unthinkable every day.
Today the news reports are full of the story of the soldier in London, attacked with knives and cleavers, being killed and beheaded…in a quiet neighborhood, just going about his every day, normal life and in 5 minutes time he was dead.
Such things the mind cannot hardly conceive. Especially here in America.
I think I have begun to understand the really far reaching civilizing effect that the Gospel has had on our nation.
Especially as I see what is happening in nations where there is no Gospel, or where the light of the Gospel is being shut out more and more. As the Gospel is shut out, barbarism takes over.
I also think prophetically. Beheading will be a primary way in which believers will loose their lives during the Great Tribulation.
Already believers are loosing their lives daily in Muslim countries by this method.
I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were allowed to judge. Then I saw the souls of those whose heads had been cut off because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its statue and were not branded on their foreheads or hands. They lived and ruled with Christ for 1,000 years.
