Does this really mean physical healing?
Does ‘flesh’ really mean the physical body?
Lexicon results: “Life”
…..living, alive: 1) green (of vegetation), 2) flowing, fresh (of water), 3)lively, active (of man), 4) reviving (of springtime).
Other: sustenance, maintenance, appetite, renewal, living thing.
Life in the Old Testament promises, primarily referred to physical, emotional, financial well being. The Dispensation of Zoe, (Eternal Life), had not yet been introduced. Zoe was in the Word of God at that time, not actually indwelling people. God encouraged them to maintain a continuous relationship with His Word in order that the God Kind of Life could supply to them, through that Word, the sustenance they needed to live as God’s Covenant People.
Notice the wonderful definitions, even the ones that refer to nature can be applied to you and the results in your life of your relationship with God’s Word: you will be green with life, flourishing like a vine; you will be flowing with life, fresh life, like a living spring, an artesian well, you will be live and active, you will be revived like springtime, (they that wait upon the Lord renew their strength; Thou hast renewed my youth like the eagles). Life from the Word will sustain you, maintain you, renew you.
Lexicon results: “Health”
….health, healing, cure, profit, sound of mind, the healing of a disease, refreshing of both body and mind; deliverance from calamity; remedy; relaxed mind; tranquility of mind, tranquility of tongue, gent modest speech.
My, this is a big, fat word! It reminds me of the word: saved, salvation in the New Testament: SOZO!
The health that attending to God’s Word produces heals, cures and profits you; causes you to have a sound, tranquil, relaxed mind; delivers you from calamity, is a remedy/curative for what ails you; refreshes both body and mind; even helps you speak right words that will minister health to those who hear them and of course, God Words also bring the healing of disease to the physical body.
Lexicon results: “Flesh”
….of the body whether human or animal; the exterior skin. (There were a few more meaning kindred blood relations, all living things and man against God).
God’s Word, Proverbs 4:20-22 tells us is His First Aid Station!
Yes, this verse does mean healing/health for the physical body.
The Word of God, which contains the Life of God (Zoe) is imparted to you as you feed on the Word.
Physical life. Physical health. Physical flesh.
“My Word are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh.”
How does the Word wash out sickness and disease from our bodies? I really don’t know!
But it does.
I have experienced it!
