We begin to learn how to lie as children. We see our parents tell ‘little white lies’, i.e. when someone calls on the phone and the parent said to ‘tell them I’m not home’. We lie when we get caught doing something we shouldn’t: “I didn’t do it, she did!” If this sin is not ‘outgrown’ as we get older, the lies will get bigger and more damaging to us and those around us. There are whole systems, religions, governments, financial institutions that keep control and influence through lies. Lies & deception will characterize the last days. If you have any problems with lying, now is the time to deal with it before the greater deception takes you over. In the end remember, you are first of all lying to yourself by living a deceptive life. Be set free, and take a stand against this spirit, for Satan is the father of it.
Manifestations of a lying spirit:
accusations, cheating, crying, curse, deceit, deceptions, delusions,
depraved desires, dishonesty, false doctrines, dreamer, driven-ness,
emotionalism, exaggeration, false spirituality, fantasies, false prophecy,
false burden, false compassion, false responsibility, false teaching,
fear of authority, financial problems, flattery, gossip, hypocrisy,
insinuations, lies, manipulative, mental bondage, mind control, profanity,
rationalization, religious spirit, scheming, seduction, seeker of men’s
approval, feeling ugly and worthless, self-inflicted curses, self-pity, shifty,
superstitions, excessive talking, trickery, unfair, unreality, unscrupulous,
vain imaginations, vanity.

18:22 Lying spirit, and c. – See the power of Satan! One lying spirit can make four hundred lying prophets. And thus he frequently becomes a murderer by being a liar, and destroys men by deceiving them
18:1-34 Jehoshaphat’s alliance with Ahab. – This history we read in 1Ki 22. Abundant riches and honour give large opportunities of doing good, but they are attended with many snares and temptations.God had given Jehoshaphat great wealth and peace in the Southern Kingdom of Judah. He made an alliance with the wicked king, Ahab, of the Northern Kingdom, to go to war against the Syrians. Jehoshaphat asked if there was a prophet of the Lord that they could inquire of before going into battle, to know the outcome. Ahab called his 400 prophets and a lying spirit filled their mouths to give him a good report: that he would return successfully from the battle. Jehoshaphat was uneasy about this and asked if there was another prophet and Ahab said yes, but he never gives me a good word. Well, they called him, and the same thing happened: he prophesied Ahab’s destruction. Ahab was so mad that he had him locked up in prison and said he would only get out if he didn’t return from the battle. Well, Ahab was killed in battle, for this prophet had a true word from the Lord. Ahab rather believe the lying spirit than the truth and save his life.

Another prophet who lived there convinced him to come home with him….said an angel gave him a message that he was to do this. But when he got back to the old prophet’s house, the old prophet pronounced doom on him for disobeying what the Lord had told him to do. As he was leaving town a lion killed him.
